As a word applying to classical music, scherzo first appeared in 17th century. The Italian word »scherzo« came from German »scherzen« which means »to joke«, in a composition taking on a playful, vigorous and light character.
Some positivity and playfulness in every day life…Is that not what will all need especially in this Covid-19 times?
Let Canal City Flute Quartet take you on a journey of Scherzos, bringing joyful music from Beethoven and Kuhlau, all the way to modern music from their own arranger and composer.
